Odoo is one of the most demanding ERP software in present time and the reason is its top-notch business modules, which can be easily customized based on your requirements. Data is crucial for any organization be it small or large. It is a challenging task to update and manage data manually as it includes so many important records.  

After the implementation of Odoo, it becomes easier to import records into it. The latest Odoo 15 edition you with the feature of importing and exporting of records along with CSV extensions database. You can easily import your customers, chart of accounts, addresses, journals, and records. 

In this blog, we will discuss the process of importing data in the Odoo 15 version. For your information, Odoo supports either XLSX or CSV files. So, you have to choose from these two. 

While importing data at the initial level, you are supposed to load a file that requires importing and then after test the import. The test will allow you to understand the fields properly.   

Now it is time to start the process of importing data. So, pay proper attention. 

First of all, you are supposed to import the data for that.  



As soon as you press the Export, you will find a new window that you can use to choose the fields for import.   


From here, you can choose either XLSX or CSV files. Moreover, you can also select the mandatory fields that require data export. Once you finish the selection, simply click on the export that provides you with the exported database.   



Here, you have the format of the exported data. Also, you are allowed to add new data in new columns.   

In case of updating more data in an already exported file, you can import it depending upon the external ID. Furthermore, those data are updated to this corresponding ID during importing it. Then get ready for the next phase which is data importing. Moreover, you can abandon the exporting process in the event of required values that provides a new record into your data. You can create either XLSX or CSV file then add records, and import it.   

Here,  you can find an import record menu under the favorites filter as shown in the screenshot given below.   



You can see in the screenshot below that from here, it is very easy for you to upload the files.


from this window, you can easily upload the important files.



Here is a field in the fourth column that can be easily imported and you will find the Odoo field in the fifth column. Afterward, you can add comments to it as the importing features have been upgraded in Odoo 15. 

After importing the values to the records, you can effortlessly test the data by clicking on the test button. One thing to note here that you can skip this step as it is not compulsory to do. You can import it using the import button.  



You can find the newly imported data in the above screenshot. If you update new import data into the current record, the data will be automatically imported into the corresponding record. You can import the records in a systematic way with the help of this unique importing method.
